“The Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue Among Islands” Meeting

On Saturday, March 9th, the Municipality of Portoferraio (Elba Island) hosted an initiative in the “Nello Santi” Hall of the De Laugier Conference Center. The event was organized in collaboration with The Phoenicians’ Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, joined by ANCIM (the National Association of Small Island Municipalities).
The meeting, entitled “The Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue Among Islands,” was organized on the occasion of the 2024 European Year of Islands and aimed to launch an exchange and consultation process for gathering proposals among Euro-Mediterranean islands, particularly the smaller ones.
Also present was Luigi Ferrara, Head of the Casa Italia Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, representing the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies. Salvatore Deidda, Chair of the Transport, Post and Telecommunications Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, also addressed the meeting.
Among the participants were Angelo Zini (Mayor of Portoferraio), Giampiero Sammuri (President of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park Authority), Isabel Vera (President of EURINSULA), Anne Lezin of the CPMR (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions – Islands Commission), and Gian Piera Usai (Secretary General of ANCIM).
