Vision e mission

The innovative strategy of the Phoenicians’ Route is based on the so-called “Smart Ways” that, thanks to some European projects, are being developed in various areas of the Mediterranean, following the most innovative applications and methodologies in the sector. By “Smart Way” is meant a path of excellence that acts as a collector of heritages, communities and individual services, developing a territorial quality offer, enhancing the service standards of the companies and territories involved, developing cooperation between the different parts of the supply chain, promoting service activities to the fruition not yet realized. It also makes it possible to identify attractors in terms of “Sustainable Tourism” in the territories involved and enhance the existing through networking activities and creation of sustainable integrated tourism supply chains. The main stakeholders that are involved in the action are tourism and cultural operators, local authorities, professional schools, associations, young people, local communities, managers of cultural sites and museums. The goal is to develop a territorial circuit aimed at creating greater integration between “territory” and “attractions,” not only elements of “high” culture, but also landscape and local community values, crafts, folklore, food and wine, and atmosphere. The development of the road theme is understood as a route to be traveled in stages with its own and original characteristics, a new way on which to structure routes based on slow, sustainable, creative, experiential, social, accessible and responsible tourism. A circuit between different realities, aimed at increasing visits to sites and areas with lower attendance. The “Way” Route is called “Smart” because the most innovative tourism methodologies will also be used and applied, and it can be longer or shorter (between 100 and 400 km).The concept is not based on length but on the quality of the offer and relationships between the various operators involved. Key areas will benefit from new approaches to tourism and development based on creativity, heritage interpretation, and participation of local communities and stakeholders. The project will act as a facilitator of the territorial dynamics of sustainable development through creative approach and destination management. The creation of a Smart Way is based on a series of activities being developed by local partners in collaboration with experts from the Phoenicians’ Route.
