Also other characters like Hou\u00ebl, Maupassant, Anatole France, Winckelmann, Brydone, Von Riesedel, Denon, Dolomieu, Jordan, Saint Non, Bartels have tried a description of a mythical Sicily, favoring in a decisive way the \u00a0enhancement of its most admirable places . This makes the Journey of Goethe very popular and \u00a0loved still today in North Europe, and this route \u00a0becomes an invitation to follow the descriptions made by the traveller who contributed to the knowledge of\u00a0 Sicily in\u00a0 northern Europe. Among the most famous craft products there is ceramics, already known at the time of Diodorus Siculus and then flourishing under the Arabs. Goethe described it thus<em>: &#8216;an isolated ridge which gives the landscape an unusual and severe character\u2019.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Municipality of Enna <\/em><br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.comune.enna.it\/eca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.comune.enna.it<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>8) CATANIA <\/strong><br \/>\nLying between the Ionian Sea and the lower slopes of Mount Etna, Sicily&#8217;s second city has always lived in close relationship with the volcano, starting from the lava rock which was used to build it. It was the \u00a0favourite destination of the Grand Tour and \u00a0the seat of nobles and bankers from \u00a0William II of Germany to the Rothschilds.<\/p>\n<p><em>The municipality of Taormina <\/em><br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.comune.taormina.me.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.comune.taormina.me.it\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>10) MESSINA<\/strong><br \/>\nHalfway between two seas, between the \u00a0two extremes of the Mediterranean and later , between the two Vice kingdoms of Naples and Sicily, it has always been influenced by its role as contact point. The defensive building \u00a0of\u00a0 Fort San Salvatore and the Rainieri lantern, on the peninsula with the same name, \u00a0which in the East closes the port, are the entrance to the city.
