Promoted by cultural associations M.Th.I.<\/strong>, Archeoclub d\u2019Italia-Roma, Prospettive Mediterranee <\/strong>and\u00a0Agroalimentare in rosa<\/strong>, in collaboration with\u00a0The Phoenicians’ Route<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Cultural Route of the Council of Europe<\/strong>, national and international institutions, the Cerealia festival is looking every year to make its contribution cultural to exchange in the Mediterranean at various levels,\u00a0addressing the issues of food, environment, economy, tourism, identity and culture.<\/p>\n

The seventh edition (8-11 June 2017) makes a special dedication to the European Union and the 60 years of the Treaties of Rome and for this reason the Festival received the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers,\u00a0Department for European Policies – Communication Service; the event was also included in the Calendar of Institutional Initiatives concerning the 60th Anniversary of the Treaties of Rome.\u00a0In addition, the EFA (European Festivals Association) has re-affirmed at Cerealia the EFFE Label 2017-2018, a mark of the European Festival of Excellence.<\/p>\n

Think about what “Europe<\/strong>” meant in these sixty years,\u00a0Today more than ever it is necessary to give value to that pact signed between the six signatory countries.\u00a0The dedication to the European Union also emphasizes the value of diversity,\u00a0that nurture the uniqueness of the European continent and its capacity for dialogue, in particular with the southern shore of the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

Just cereals and bread have formed the identity project of the European Parliament at Expo Milano 2015;\u00a0The “golden ear of corn<\/strong>” has been taken as a symbol to represent Europe, wanting to meet the question of achieving food security through good cooperation, not just between countries, but also between science and agriculture, innovation and tradition.<\/p>\n

The professional chain will thus be, from earth work to scientific research, at the center of the Cerealia 2017 program: main theme therefore “Arts and professions. Identity and Culture”; while the barley is the cereal chosen for a deepening which will be dedicated to a conference in Rome on June 12. Always in Rome, a round table will focus on sustainable tourism<\/strong>, on the occasion of the European Year devoted to this theme.\u00a0The 2017 edition is then dedicated to the memory of prof. Silvio Moretti.<\/p>\n

Confirming its widespread festival structure, Cerealia presents this year a rich program of initiatives in various places in Rome, municipalities in Lazio and several Italian regions.\u00a0Many of the activities carried out outside of Rome start at the end of April and are organized through a rich calendar that will expire until November 2017.<\/p>\n

Several technical and organizational partners and sponsoring institutions, who have already joined and who have been invited to participate.<\/p>\n

Cerealia is part of the activities of the Ancient Mediterranean Days, promoted by the Phoenicians’ Route.<\/p>\n
