Students of Venice’s Istituto Europeo di Design IED on a study trip on the Phoenicians’ Route

Some international students enrolled in the Master in Business for Arts and Culture – IED Venice from 6 to 8 November attended a study trip to discover the Phoenicians’ Route in Sicily, guided by prof. Aldo Buzio, coordinator of the Master and Dr. Chiara Fustella, academic coordinator.

The first stop was the Orestiadi Foundation and the Museum of Mediterranean Textures of Gibellina. The director of the Museum, Enzo Fiammetta, welcomed them.

Day two was dedicated to the discovery of the Archaeological Park of the Valle dei Templi of Agrigento. Before visiting the UNESCO site, the students had the chance to meet the director, architect Giuseppe Parello and the archaeologist official Dr. Maria Concetta Parello, who showed their current and future experiences of research, management and promotion, Dr. Elvira Capraro of CoopCulture for additional services, the archaeologist Laura Danile (PastActivity) for educational and heritage activities and Pierfilippo Spoto (Val di kam) for the activities of experiential tourism in the area of Agrigento.
In the afternoon, visit to the Farm Cultural Park of Favara, guided by Mariacristina Di Carlentini and meeting with Florinda Saieva, co-founder of the Farm.

During the third and final day of the study trip the students visited the city of Palermo and met Dr. Guido Meli, official of the Soprintendenza del Mare of Sicilian Region.
