Meeting of the Representatives of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing France

Antonio Barone, Director of the Phoenicians ‘Route and Sandrine Modolo, Coordinator of the French Network of the Phoenicians’ Route, attended the meeting on the enhancement and promotion of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (ICCE) crossing France, in the framework of a new partnership between the Ministry of Culture and the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes.

France participated in the launch of this program in 1987 and has been a member of the Enlarged Partial Agreement since 2010. Furthermore, the Ministry of Culture fully supports the values underlying the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. Of the 45 Routes now certified by the Council of Europe, 31 pass through France: a significant resource for enhancement of the French regions, thanks to the diversity and richness of the partners involved.

This meeting of June 1, 2021, which took place from 10 to 17 online, brought together 27 representatives of the certified Cultural Routes that cross France, in the presence of representatives of the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Tourism Promotion of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the activities underway with the Commission for Sustainable Tourism were presented. Activities that aim to integrate certified Cultural Routes into the strategic tourism plan, because they meet the objectives of tourism policy in France and respond to the challenges of transforming the development model, to the benefit of the Regions.
