International University Network (IUN)

International University Network (IUN) promoted by the Phoenicians’ Route

Following the General Assembly of the Phoenicians’ Route held in Jaén (Spain) on 10 October 2017, the Scientific Committee of the Phoenicians’ Route has approved the establishment of an International University Network to support the Phoenicians’ Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, formed by the institutions that have signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with the Phoenicians’ Route.

The IUN Network was created to promote a Knowledge and Cooperation Network in the research and development of economic, scientific and cultural projects of common interest related to the following themes:

  • cultural, material and immaterial heritage
  • intercultural dialogue
  • cultural, sustainable, responsible and experiential tourism
  • archaeology and history
  • tourism sciences and local development
  • education and pedagogy
  • cultural management
  • communication and sustainable development
  • landscape and cultural itineraries

The IUN Network promotes the following activities:

  1. development of research projects of mutual interest on the basis of a protocol to be defined on a three-year basis;
  2. study visits made by members and researchers of the various institutions involved in order to carry out research and improve the training of scientific personnel;
  3. joint organization of masters, summer and winter camps, seminars, symposia and discussions on topics of common interest;
  4. exchange of good practices
  5. student mobility both among the Institutions involved and the Route.
