On 31 May – 4 June, the Phoenicians’ Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, Lead partner of the Erasmus+ U-Mar promoting Enhancing underwater archeology to make it an innovative tool for developing sustainable & creative tourism project, hosted the LTTA – Learning Teaching Training Activity in Selinunte. Three members from each project partner met for a week of transnational training, in order to exchange their knowledge and define together how to develop the new innovative training course on underwater archaeological sites for cultural operators, the first project output.
The transnational training of trainers has also allowed the exchange of knowledge between the partners involved, the exploration of documentation techniques, including the importance of in situ protection of the underwater cultural heritage, communicative interpretation and enhancement of the underwater heritage, shared management strategies, evaluation of the impact of tourism activities on the marine environment and the creation of underwater cultural itineraries.
The next transnational meeting of the U-Mar project will be held in September in Zadar in Croatia.
