Mazarrón will host the 1st Meeting of the International University Network (IUN) of the Phoenicians’ Route, 15-16 October

The first meeting (in presence) of the International University Network (IUN) of the Phoenicians’ Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, was born with the aim to consolidate the joint work between the Universities and, at the same time, enhance the history and heritage of the Municipality of Mazarrón, the venue of the event.

On 15 and 16 October there will be an extensive program of conferences and round tables that will have the Phoenicians’ Route as their main axis, discussing the Hannibal Pathway or talking about underwater archeology along the Phoenicians’ Route.

Ginés Campillo, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture underlined the importance of enhancing the Phoenician wealth that the Municipality of Mazarrón has.

The press conference was attended online by Paolo Ponzio, Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Phoenicians’ Route, who highlighted the importance of this first meeting in person and commented on the richness of the speakers’ profiles.

Manuel Peregrina, member of the Steering Committee of the Phoenicians’ Route and Technical Secretary of the Spanish Network of the Phoenicians’ Route, underlined the importance of the Municipality of Mazarrón in the Phoenicians’ Route: “Mazarrón is a key point along the Phoenicians’ Route“.
