The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Hellenic Republic – Directorate of International Relations and European Union, in cooperation with the EPA Secretariat, the Public Diplomacy Office of the Permanent Mission of Greece to the Council of Europe, as well as the Administrative Regions of Greece and the Greek representatives of certified Cultural Routes, have published a new 2020 brochure on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and network members active in Greece.
Μr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe: “Through this sensorial experience that this publication proposes to its reader, the Greek Chairmanship aims to “keep the windows of our country open” to the world, to highlight the Greek cultural democracy and diversity, to promote the dialogue and mutual exchanges inside and outside our borders. To prove that in the end, emergency circumstances, such as the pandemic that we are experiencing today, can create new ideas and perspectives
for pursuing a meaningful and dynamic cultural diplomacy and, consequently, an effective foreign policy”

Lina Mendoni, Minister of Culture and Sports:“In this edition, created on the occasion of the Greek Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe, are comprehensively presented not only all the Greek organizations that participate in Cultural Routes programme, but also those who intend to participate and are in the process of certification. The routes crossing Greece cover a very wide geographical and thematic range, highlightingin a unique way the rich natural and cultural heritage of our country”.
Μr. Konstantinos Vlasis, Deputy Minister for Diaspora Greeks: “The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe constitute an exemplary of the interrelation of culture and sustainable development. Monuments, cities, museums, natural landscapes and historical events are not perceived as distinct cultural categories but are rather connected, interrelated and diffused to various European countries. Europe’s common cultural heritage is protected and promoted not only as a link between people but also as a factor of social, economic and cultural development. Moreover, they set an example of how culture and heritage of different and remoted areas of Europe can shape our common cultural heritage.

The brochure aims at promoting cultural heritage represented by the certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing Greece.
