2nd Transnational Project Meeting within the project ‘MED-Routes’, Varna (Bulgaria) – 30th May 2024

In the past few days we have been in Varna (Bulgaria) to participate in the 2nd Transnational Project Meeting within the project ‘MED-Routes – Enhancing MED sustainable cultural tourism through the creation of eco-itineraries within European Cultural Routes‘, co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme of the European Union.

The project overall objective is to create and spread a locally based model of sustainable tourism, with minimal harmful impact on the Mediterranean area, in order to establish a special model of Mediterranean “slow tourism” rooted in the common heritage of 4 Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, which will be the focus of this project: the Phoenicians’ Route, the European Route of Ceramics, The Routes of the Olive Tree and Destination Napoleon.

Another project goal is to design ecological itineraries that will improve the local cultural and touristic offer while respecting the principles of sustainability and circular economy.

Official partners in the project include Libertas International University and Pafos Tourism Board, members of the Phoenicians’ Route acting as associate partner.

The meeting was excellently hosted by technical partner BATTI – Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation.

Next appointment in Pafos (Cyprus) in November 2024.
